Jordan Vann is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC). She has been practicing counseling for over four years and working in the mental health field for seven years. She graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2014 and the University of Montevallo in 2017. She has worked in a variety of settings, including private practice, an inpatient psychiatric hospital, group homes, and a substance abuse treatment facility. She has worked with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, panic attacks, substance abuse issues, chronic pain and disability, relationship problems, family conflict, trauma, grief, ADHD, body image issues, mood and personality disorders, as well as through many other life changes and strains. She has experience working with caregivers, first responders, healthcare professionals, military and veterans, women, and young adults on issues specific to these populations. Jordan hopes to meet all clients where they are and empower them as they learn how to use and develop the many strengths that they already have within them.
Jordan’s counseling style is described as warm and encouraging. She takes the role of facilitator, as together client and therapist work towards meeting unique goals through a variety of evidence based therapeutic interventions. Jordan draws from a variety of counseling approaches, including person-centered, narrative, solution focused, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), existential therapy, emotionally focused therapy (EFT), and mindfulness. She believes that each client is different and works to tailor her style to best meet the needs of each unique individual. Her aim is to help clients to discover the resiliency within themselves while working to establish their ideal self and life. Jordan believes that the therapeutic experience should be a foundation for emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual growth. She wants clients to know that they have already taken a courageous step forward by choosing to make a positive change in their lives.
