Teresa Teer is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Alabama. She has worked with individuals experiencing life transition, anxiety, self-esteem, chronic health conditions, and grief. She also has extensive experience helping clients and caregivers navigate learning and developmental disabilities, ADHD and ASD.
Teresa believes in a collaborative approach in helping clients identify strengths, develop coping strategies, and move toward meaningful change. She believes in creating a safe, supportive environment while integrating evidence-based practices tailored to a client’s unique needs.
Teresa encourages clients to be active participants in both identifying their desired goals and the best strategies for their unique situations. She incorporates various theories depending on the client’s specific needs. This includes elements from Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Play Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy and others. Teresa believes in supportive and collaborative working relationships to help clients feel confident in taking action to care for themselves.
