Dorian Bayles is an Associate Licensed Counselor under the supervision of Shea Miller, LPC-S. Dorian is a two-time graduate of the University of Montevallo, holding a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, and a Master of Education degree in Couples and Family Counseling.
Dorian is passionate about providing a warm, relaxed, and welcoming environment for every client that is conducive to fostering personal healing and resilience. Dorian has a passion for working with children, adolescents, couples, families, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. In her experience working in community mental health counseling through the University of Montevallo, she has developed a personal style of counseling which is experiential, fluid, and enables clients to see their own potential for growth which may be unseen to them currently. Dorian believes it is an honor and privilege to enter into the journey of counseling with a person, and as such she aims to treat each client with curiosity, kindness, and confidence in their innate ability to heal. It is her belief that a holistic approach to therapy is most effective, with the understanding that our mental health impacts every aspect of our lives.
Dorian believes therapy works best when it is tailored to the individual’s needs. This means that she employs multiple modalities and interventions throughout treatment, with the personal philosophy that no one treatment is effective for everyone. Dorian holds a core focus in using Person-Centered Therapy, and commonly implements: Expressive Arts Therapy, Experiential Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She has experience with clients between the ages of 5-65+, with an emphasis on working with children and LGBTQIA+ individuals.
Outside of counseling, Dorian loves to knit, craft, read, watch movies, and spend time with her loved ones (cats included). She is always looking for new places to visit, new books to read, and new crafts to try
