John Wise is a Licensed Professional Counselor with 25 years of experience. He earned his bachelor degree in education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and his Master of Arts in counseling from the University of Alabama. John developed his skills by working at various agencies which provided opportunities to work with serious mental illness, residential placement for teens, in-home therapy with families with troubled teens and adolescents, methodone treatment, jails and psychiatric settings. He has experience with first responders and veterans and is a trained provider of EMDR therapy for PTSD , trauma and abuse.

John believes the foundation of therapy is therapeutic alliance between therapist and client. Therapy should be a place where you know you are being heard and you feel safe talking about your life experiences. John will be there to assist you with building new skills, learning new ways of thinking and effectively managing the stress that we all feel.
